Co-ops to 'power' green energy future – Rifkin
International economist Jeremy Rifkin says co-operatives can play an integral role in a global strategy to revolutionise the energy market. Rifkin is calling for the establishment of co-operative taskforces to establish a plan to implement his renewable energy regime. “We need to see this moving very aggressively in the coming 12 to 24 months because we are running out of time,” says Rifkin. “Fossil fuel prices are so volatile, nuclear has gone, we have climate change right on our doorstep now … we’ve got to take action.”
